AFTER THE BUZZER SOUNDS – OFFICIAL WEBSITE!

Just a small blog update to let you all know that there will be an ‘After The Buzzer Sounds’ website very soon. The hope is that it can be launched in time for episode 4 so keep your eye’s out for it – as soon as it goes live, we’ll announce it here on the blog and via Facebook and Twitter!

The greatest thing about having the website is that it’ll provide the opportunity to capture everything in the one place. The key features will include all the latest news, an interactive blog, the podcast available for streaming and downloading and the opportunity to participate in monthly polls.

The first poll is seeking views on how many games the Pistons will win this year...
  • 25-30;
  • 31-40;
  • 41-45;
  • 45-50; or
  • 50+.

Until the website goes live you can email your selection in or post it below this article!

Hope you like the website when it arrives and that you are enjoying the shows!

After The Buzzer Sounds - Change of Format!

I am finding it tougher and tougher to get the opportunity to get involved with the blog so have decided to change the format of 'After The Buzzer Sounds' - it is now primarily a podcast!

However, I'll continue to blog when I get a chance but it will be much easier to get my thoughts recorded on a weekly basis via the podcast.

I'm just putting the finishing touches to the first episode and it should be available very soon - I'm not planning on it being a long one but will touch on free agency and my hopes for next season!

Hope you enjoy it!

Greg Monroe to have “minor” surgery!!

I had no sooner published my last article when I heard the news via the Need for Sheed website that Greg is going in for “minor” foot surgery!

That was a bit of a blow but I’m hoping that it is indeed ‘minor’ and that he is back fighting fit for the start of pre-season training – much better to have any niggles worked out now than half way through the season, don’t think I can handle another season containing as many injuries as last year!

Anyway, get better soon Greg!

Pistons draft Monroe and White

This was the first year that I was able to stay up and watch the Draft live on television, one of the drawbacks of being a fan of the Pistons… the 5 hours time difference between Scotland and Detroit!

I am glad that I did stay up though and I have to admit that I am happy with our draft picks this year. Was pleasantly surprised we managed to pick up Monroe at 7 and in White we pick up a guy that had the potential to be a 1st round guy in the 2nd round, in my opinion!

I eagerly awaited Summer League to see these guys in action and was happy with their overall performances. I’m not even going to be critical of their performances seeing as it was Summer League - where guys go to learn things with their potential new teams and we all know the real work starts in a couple of months!

I’ll start with our first pick, Greg Monroe. Was slightly confused by his first game, not really sure if I was maybe expecting more but as the games went on he got better and better. This led to his final game totals of 27 points and 14 boards… we’ll have some of that next season please! I think what I’d like to see is Ben taking Greg aside and get him to be a dominant big man on the defensive end which will really complement his offensive ability.

Tarrico White played a great first game and put in solid performances
throughout. White is a guy that can play both guard positions but he apparently prefers playing at 1 so we’ll hopefully see some developments from him at the point but I was generally happy with him and his game. I just wonder if having White on the roster will have an effect on Joe D’s decision to re-sign Will Bynum?! Only time will tell and I’ll be sure to provide my views on whatever decision is made with that!

Above everything, what these draft picks have given us is options, not only in terms of them playing on the court but also what we do with the rest of the roster – it opens up opportunities for trades as well. It’ll will be an interesting summer as Joe looks to make some moves – let’s just hope he makes the right decisions this year!

Wallace to sign 2 year deal!

According to NBA.com, the beast Big Ben will be back for another 2 years as he wants to retire as a Piston!

Great piece of news that arguably our best player last year has decided he wants to come back for another 2 years. It may be the pessimist in me but I am slightly disappointed that this hasn't been signed yet and their is nothing on the Pistons site to say he has actually put ink on paper yet!

I'm sure there is a perfectly valid reason why it hasn't been signed, sealed, delivered yet - for example Big Ben is enjoying a well earned holiday!

Until it is signed, I'll keep checking the website every hour or so!

On another note, now that this one seems to be done... let's get Will signed up Joe!

Welcome to ATBS!

Welcome to 'After The Buzzer Sounds' - one man's take on the state of the Detroit Pistons!

Decided to start this a few months back but nothing was really happening with us being so far away from making the Playoffs last year there was next to no news, then we were bombarded with the upcoming free agency and 'The Decision'! Boring!!!!

The first piece of news I decided to highlight was Ben Wallace agreeing to sign a 2 year deal to return to the Pistons - great news as he was our best player last year.

I probably should have started with the Draft but I wanted to reserve the first article for Big Ben, I hope you all appreciate that, and I'll get to Monroe and White in the next one!

Feel free to comment on the articles and I'll try my best to reply as soon as possible - would be good to get other Piston fans opinions on the goings on with our team.
